"When I first joined ProZ.com a few years ago, there was no localization team in my native language, at least not an active one, and I thought ProZ.com deserved to be localized into European Portuguese. I also believed my fellow translators would appreciate having the site in their native language so I decided to give my humble contribution and be part of the localization team. I found a group of very motivated translators and together we did it. The team worked really hard! Of course, there are improvements to be made from time to time but the important thing is how we feel. ProZ.com is a great community of language professionals. Offering its users the option to have the site in their native language makes the difference. It feels like home to me!"

(5) Scams targeting language professionals: facing them together

The ProZ.com community is actively facing scammers who target translators and interpreters as potential victims.
New filters are being developed to catch scams such as the "dating" and "Nigerian" varieties. These filters have already proven effective in stopping scam messages before they reach a language professional's inbox. Meanwhile, the Translator scam alert center is being used for the reporting and investigation of potential scams and for alerting subscribers when new threats are detected. Two types of scam alerts are available to subscribers: instant notification or weekly digest.
Thanks to all those who have reported potential scams and have helped to spread the word to colleagues about the tools available for detecting and reacting to these scams.
