One tag of a pair missing from segment, prevents proper placement

While evaluating CafeTran 2015, I encountered this problem: a source segment contains only one tag of a pair (italic in this case), which prevents me from placing the tags properly in the target.

In the first picture, there is only one tag. As you see from the second picture, everything starting from that tag is italicized, while the proper way in this case is to italicize two words only.

"Hide segment boundary tags" and "Merge adjacent tags" checkboxes are unchecked.

How do I achieve proper tag placement in this situation?

Thank you 2nl,

The first method didn't help, but the second did. The concern is that this can happen with other tags, not related to basic character formatting, and in that case the second approach won't help either.

In the meantime, I've found a more universal workaround covering the latter case, which is to join the offending segment with the next one. The problem is that not all customers like joined segments, if the delivery is in a bilingual format. In addition, you have to remember to do it after you've obtained the match for the second segment, not before. Therefore I would still like paired tags to always reside in the same segment.

How is the situation now? Nov 29, 2018

Hi! Has Cafetran's behavior with respect to this issue changed by now? This proved to be a showstopper for me.

Tag-related changes Nov 29, 2018

Hello Artem,

For native projects, I don't remember encountering this issue, not lately at least. Is this for external projects?

Here are some of the tag-related changes announced since then, as I have aggregated them in the ChangeLog: https://github.com/idimitriadis0/TheCafeTranFiles/wiki/0-ChangeLog

2018 Akua Update 12 (20180901)... See more
Hello Artem,

Here are some of the tag-related changes announced since then, as I have aggregated them in the ChangeLog: https://github.com/idimitriadis0/TheCafeTranFiles/wiki/0-ChangeLog

2018 Akua Update 12 (20180901)
Extension of the "Transfer tags to matches" option for the matches found in Machine Translation results.

2018 Akua Update 8 (20180521)
There is a new build (2018052501) of update 8 available. It changes the filters by showing the standalone space at the start of some formatting tags, instead of hiding it inside the tag as before.

2017 Yeddi Update 25 (20171023)
Fixed a tagging issue in the first segment of the project when “Hide segment boundary tags” is off.

2017 Yeddi Update 14 (20170615)
Improved hiding of the initial and ending tags with adjacent space.

2017 Yeddi Update 7 (20170419)
Automatic refresh of the current segment at hiding/merging tags.

2017 Harbinger RC 2 (20161212)
Improved automatic transfer of term’s surrounding tags with complex tagging in non-CafeTran projects.

2016 Ichiro Update 27 (20161128)
Auto-tagger: inserting matches along with formatting tags in the target segment.

2016 Ichiro Update 23 (20161027)
Fixed the non-translatable highlighting issue in the source segments containing tags.
