Yueyin,

Mar 3, 2014

Steve,

travelling Mar 3, 2014

Yueyin,

Mar 5, 2014

From the restaurant's homepage description ...

I guess they weren't kidding ...

Please indulge me for trying this out, just for grins: “来了,您哪,几位,里边请,你懂的,哈哈!” ...

Mar 5, 2014

Yueyin,

If a good deal of Beijing's surroundings still looks like 姚记炒肝店, I definitely won't have a problem finding my way around.

I'm kidding. I would think they have some kind of zoning ordinances around these historical sites(象 鼓楼), so that the old historical structures don't get dwarfed by the clutter of new skyscrapers and other nondescript constructions.

Yueyin,

Thanks a lot for the links. Again they are very interesting and educational. I had a good friend who lived east of 地安门(北新桥二条的一座四合院 - I had to look at a map to jog my memory, BTW); so we would often take that section of road (地安门 -> 鼓楼), whether riding our bikes or taking public transportation, on our way from school over to his place.
