Bio

Maximiliano Marzetti has been working as a freelance lawyer linguist in parallel to his other professional activities for the last 20 years. He specialises in complex legal translations from English, Italian, Portuguese and French to Spanish, his mother tongue. In addition, he provides other legal-linguistic services such as proofreading legal Spanish texts, contract abstraction and summarisation, consultancy in foreign law (Latin America), comparative law and plain legal language (English and Spanish).

He lives in Paris, France, where he is Head of the Law Track and a Law Professor at IÉSEG School of Management. He is a member of the ICON, the Centre of Excellence in Negotiation and the LEM Laboratory (ascribed to CNRS). In addition, he regularly serves as adjunct faculty at ESCP Europe – Paris, Paris Cergy Université, Turin University, the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Harvard University (CopyrightX) and the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (Distance Learning).

Previously, he served as Deputy Director to the LLM in Intellectual Property at Turin University and worked as a trial lawyer, commercial mediator and industrial property agent in Buenos Aires. He was awarded an Erasmus Mundus grant by the European Commission, a semi-senior research grant by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), was three times visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich, appointed Associate Researcher at the Centre of Interdisciplinary Studies of Industrial and Economic Law (CEIDIE) at the University of Buenos Aires.
 
Maximiliano obtained a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Argentina, earned two masters of law degrees, one from Turin University in Intellectual Property, another from Hamburg and Bologna Universities in Law and Economics (dual degree), and a PhD from Erasmus Rotterdam Universiteit.

He is well versed in comparative law analysis, a value-added to accurate legal translations and mindful of her client's confidential information. He always works under an NDA and enforces applicable data protection laws.
