US rates inquiry Sep 21, 2010

Hello,

I think there was a section of the conference wherein one could submit questions about rates and I didn't on registration. I would like to know the rates per word for an English to Romanian translation. How much do they pay for such translation in the US?

Thank you
Sabina

Hi! Sep 22, 2010

It's an excellent opportunity! Thank you!
I would like to know if I can have some kind of certificate or any document that proves my participation in this event, for graduation purposes.
Also, I'm from Brazil, which means that the conference time will at 07:00am to 07:00pm, is that it?
Do I need any specific software or technology to watch the conference?
Thank you, again!

http://www.proz.com/translation3/freelance-translators/registrants/

I know this may be an individual problem, I just wanted to point it out as I may not be the only one.

Another issue is that it seems people who normally participate in ProZ activities using only their username (nick) are displayed with their full real name on the registrants' list. I am not sure if it is their own choice, or the real names are automatically pulled from profiles? I am not affected, as I normally use my real name, but I thought some users may not be too happy if their names that they normally keep concealed is revealed this way.

Thanks for this bug report.

That is intentional; the people you noticed have entered their first and last names for this event. In light of your question, I suppose it should be clarified in the registration form that names are going to be displayed in the virtual conference areas.

multi-access Sep 23, 2010

Hi,

If we are a company and want many translators to attend the event. Can we grant the same access to all of them?
This event is a great idea indeed!

Prizes and points Sep 23, 2010

I am looking forward to the event - I really had fun last year (of course beside that I could learn some things as well).

As regards Jamaica and other prizes: you say that attendees must earn points, however on the prize and FAQ pages there is nothing about what kind of points are that and how to earn them. Thanks in advance for clarifying the issue.

My name also missing from registrants' list Sep 23, 2010

Like Katalin Horvath McClure, I am registered for the conference, but my name does not show up in any of the searches on the registrants' page.

Just thought I'd bring this to your attention.

John

In-house translators and agency personnel should also consider attending the LSP/Agency specific event at http://www.proz.com/translation3/translation-agencies

Prize eligibility will be based on points that will be displayed in the prize center. Points will be earned for performing activities within the virtual conference - for example, visiting booths, watching/attending sessions will have specific point values assigned to them. Attendees will be able to see all points that they have earned and how many are needed, and what actions are required to earn additional points.

Extended opportunity to interact with Virtual conference content Sep 25, 2010

Thanks for your comment. Last year we had over 6,900 attendees enter the environment at some point during the day.

While it is great that you are organizing and conducting a pow-wow. The virtual conference allows translation professionals to gather and celebrate their profession online no matter where they are around the globe.

The conference will be live from 10:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT giving even those who have plans plenty of time to pop in for a little while. In addition, those that attend the conference on Sept 30th will have access to session content for 90 days.

I hope you will have a few minutes on the Sept 30th to stop by and see the conference in action.
