German term

Maßlösung

German to English Science Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng titration
Context sentence:
Die relative hohen Werte fuer die Wiederholpraezision werden durch den sehr geringen Verbrauch an Massloesung (0.1ml) verursacht.

I don't believe the translation for this word is 'standard solution' because this is something different.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +3 standard solution

Thanks for clarifying.

Clarification Hello Everyone -
Yes, I was surprised to see exactly the same sentence too! Actually I am editing/checking a translation and I suspect the person from Montenegro may be the original translator. So this is not a test; it is checking/editing of a translation.
'Standard solutions' are solutions you prepare with known concentrations, usually to make a standard curve. This is why I don't think that it is 'standard' solution. I think that the correct translation is 'titrant' because this is the solution that is added during the tritation until you achieve the desired color, for ex.
Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. Aug 8, 2007:
Sorry: "standardized". As a member previously pointed out, this is usually the "titrant", the one which has a known molarity up to 4 decimal places.
Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. Aug 8, 2007:
Heart: Why don't you think that it is standard solution ? May be because it was not accepted. Well, standard solution is it... Of course, in chemistry, they also use "standarized solution". In my opinion, those are interchangeable...
Steffen Walter Aug 8, 2007:
Since your sentence is exactly the same as in the previous question cited above, I suspect that it is part of a test. If so, the corresponding box in the asking form ("This question was taken from a translation test (or from homework)") should be ticked.

How come you're asking exactly (!) the same question (same sentence) that an asker from Montenegro asked not even two weeks ago? Working on the same text?

I do believe that "standard solution" is appropriate here. My suggestion is supported by an entry in my DE<>EN Chemistry Dictionary (Kucera):
Maßlösung = normal solution, N solution (containing one gram equivalent per litre); ***(bei der Titration) standard solution***

(*** are mine)

However, as I said, pls wait for comments.
