Russian: ya dumal, sho tam budyet svad'ba, a tam budyet tol'ko vyesyelye
Italian: pensavo che ci sarebbero le nozze, invece, ci sarebbe solo un divertimento

it's not literal but preserves the alliteration:
wesoły / wesele
married / marry
otherwise:
I thought there would be (they would have) a wedding but they will just have a good time there
