Russian to English
Bus/Financial
Economics
economics/politics

"economicize"
economize = экономить.

: The only reason to use such a bizarre non-word in such a context, in quotations, is to use it ironically (to make fun of it). I don't see that meaning here.

Thank you Susan, I do see your point. However, this is not a total non-word - it has been used a few times for the same purpose, and I do feel traces of sarcasm here, too - in the sense that Russian politics is indeed a joke.

curtail expenses

[make] economics driven
I don't think there is a single word for that. If you are ok with two, this will do. Or you could try it with a dash: "economics-driven"

"economify" googled — What is necessary is to overcome (a) entrenched lobby politics, (b) neo-liberalism that tries to economify everything and all

"economization/economisation" has a different meaning, sort of

"экономизировать" is to Russian what "economify" is to English. If Dubya uses it, the word is not to be compromized, is it not? It's a new word, you see :).

I think an "indirect euphemism" works better in this case

"economize", "economify", and "make economics-driven" are unidiomatic.

Likewise "economy orientation" is unidiomatic. It might be possible to say "strengthen the economics orientation".

Discussion

This determination of voting patterns in Congress by economic concerns is one major part of what I mean by the economization of politics.
The all-embracing economisation of social life leads to deep restructuring of value system and hierarchy of social and individual values.
The economization of our politics can be illustrated also by the fact that the decision about how to respond to this situation is not in the hands of politicians.
