wind energy Betz limits
I am translating a text explaining Betz limits and Weilbull distributions. The writer often uses "relazione" which might mean formula, ratio, model, relations. I am not sure what he means mathematically speaking.

mathematical formulas/formulae
In English it's better to use namely the term "formula" for the denomination of a symbolic expression of some relationship between quantities in applied sciences, though for pure mathematics the term "binary relation", for example, is quite familiar... It's better, more convenient.

Comment: "I should point out that almost any of the answers which were so helpfully suggested might have worked in a certain context, however formulae proved to be the most flexible."

Italian term (edited):
relazioni matematiche
mathematical functions (relations)
a function is a relation in which the value taken by a given variable (the dependent variable) depends upon the value taken by another variable (the independent variable). this applies to exponential functions, and it applies as well to whatever variable is supposed to change accordingly to the mean wind speed.
however, if the whole text suggests that what you really need is a more general term, relations should do. or, conversely, you might want to use different, more specific terms (such as relation, function, model, formula, etc.) according to the different, more specific instances.
