Discussion

Tony M May 13, 2011:
@ Germaine If you can find the specific question(s) back and send me the URLs, I can investigate.
Germaine May 13, 2011:
@Tony I know about the notifications, but there was none: the text simply was there one minute, then was not anymore. In one occasion, a discussion entry "came back", so I had to delete one. Last weekend, parts of a discussion I was following wouldn't show up (and I sware I'm on no pill nor smoke! ;-) Sorry! I thought of a momentary bug of some sort, so I didn't take notes.
Tony M May 13, 2011:
@ Silvester Your remark was deleted, as you will have been informed, because it is more appropriate as an added note to your existing answer, rather than a discussion commetn.

@ Germaine
Please give details so I can check into it for you; norammly, whenever a post is hidden, you will receive a notification explaining the reason.
Germaine May 13, 2011:
@silvester J'expérimente les mêmes "disparitions" depuis deux ou trois semaines...
silvester55 May 13, 2011:
@ Tony I agree with your explanation of " cost floor ".But please can you check if it gets any hits on G .I couldn't find any .This is my 2nd discussion entry , the 1st one got deleted , still can't figure out why .
Merline May 13, 2011:
Gilles Meunier a raison pour "seuil de coût" mais j'ai l'impression que "market ceiling" devrait se traduire par "plafonnement des marchés"
Tony M May 13, 2011:
cost floor / market ceiling The 'cost floor' means the cost to produce (etc.) the goods / services — this is the minimum price you could sell for without making a loss.

The 'market ceiling' is the maximum sale price the market will stand; you can apply any price-tag you like to your products, but if it is way above the going market rate, you won't sell many!

So your pricing has to fall between these two limits, and where you pitch it determines your profitability.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : I'm not at all sure that 'prix plancher' really conveys correctly the idea of 'cost floor' / It's the floor set by how much it costs to produce; I'm not sure 'prix' is correct for this kind of cost, and rather tends here to translate 'floor price'

why not ? I'm still looking for references just to be 100% sure.

prix plancher et prix plafond

(Price ceiling is the highest amount you can charge for a product. Floor price is the amount you pay for a product right from the retail merchant.)

Peer comment(s):

agree Germaine : clair et net. En fait, on pourrait même utiliser "coût de revient"
