Spanish term

movimiento de laderas

I would have thought that movimiento de laderas and deslizamiento meant the same thing... landslide... can anyone clarify please. Thanks :-)

Discussion

bigedsenior Aug 8, 2011:
The difference between 'landslide' and 'slipping' or other terms used is in the speed at which it happens. Landslides are sudden events rather than gradual.

Hillside Erosion

I think this is what ti means, although 'hillside erosion' is more likely 'escorrentía de ladera'. On the coast it could refer to cliff movement/erosion too.It can have devastating consequences for nearby buildings.

Mass wasting
A generic term for downslope movement of soil and rock, primarily in response to gravitational body forces. Mass wasting is distinct from other erosive processes in which particles or fragments are carried down by the internal energy of wind, running water, or moving ice and snow.
