However, for some years now a alternative has been available in Italy know as a two tier system ( https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistema_dualistico ) where the management body is termed a Consiglio di Gestione (Management Board) and the supervisory body, which also performs some of the functions normally carried out by shareholders is termed the Consiglio di Sorveglianza (Supervisory Board). This replaces the Board of Statutory Auditors.
The terms Organi di Amministrazione e Controllo cover both systems of governance. Of course if you know for certain that the author is referring to a Consiglio di Gestione or a Consiglio di Amminstrazione, it may be best to cut to the quick as it were and translate with "Management Board" or "Board of Directors" depending on the case.
