And after I arrive home and check again, I find the map I’d been looking for: sheet 1014-2 Cuevas del Almanzora. I had, of course, put it ‘somewhere safe’. It shows the route we took, basically north from the town, past the scattered buildings of Las Cupillas and along a wavering black line labelled ‘Camino de la Fuente del Álamo’ leading to grid square 601132, where the spring is named, Fuente del Álamo and, alongside it, the Cortijo del Álamo (ruinas). So the relatively modern but abandoned farmhouse is named but, of the Bronze Age site, there’s no indication at all on the map. Strange priorities!
