neutral Pavel Blann : why do use my alternative answer? // well, I asked about my "escape height" proposal only. but since you brought it up, let me remind you "scaling" has _many_ meanings, e.g. "scaling ladder" in this _context_.

Let me explain my first choice for M.Ch. in a down-to-earth manner:
Scaling height is a vertical distance to be scaled by firemen using a scaling ladder.
My second choice (copied by M.Ch.) is the opposite:
Escape height is a vertical distance for the escape of people using other means.
I included both alternatives as the precise context is indicated by "..." above.

neutral Maria Chmelarova : why "scaling " height ?

to scale = slézat, ztéct; scaling ladder = požární žebřík atd.
