Conform hyperdictionary.com, "Cranebrake" este "a dense growth of cane (especially giant cane)".

\"The Timber Rattle snake most often found in North Carolina is frequently called the Canebrake snake and was until recently considered to be a separate subspecies of Timber rattler. This venomous snake lives throughout North Carolina in unpopulated areas, especially rocky hillsides, fields, woodland edges and swamps. It is frequently found hiding in and under stumps and other woody surface cover. They are active both day and night in cool but not cold weather. During hot summer months, they are most active at night. The timber rattle snake, also known as the canebrake rattler, feeds on rodents and other small mammals and gives birth to between 5 and 19 young in August or September.\"

Canebrake or Timber Rattlesnake
In Florida, this large and well-camouflaged snake has traditionally been called te Canebrake Rattler. It belongs to the light-colored, southern race of Crotalus horridus. Its favorite habitat is the slopes leading to creeks running through hardwood forests. Thus, its habitat is in the shape of a long, narrow strip. (The northern race of Crotalus horridus that ranges to Maine is usually called the Timber Rattlesnake. It inhabits rocky, upland terrain.)
The Canebrake is not as aggresive as the Diamondback. It usually tries to slither away when approached, but if stepped on, will probably strike. It is potentially lethal.
Crotalus horridus articaudatus. Range in Florida: then extreme north central counties. Maximum length: 6.5 feet.

Comment: "Multumesc tuturor. Am ales in cele din urma "sarpe dungat", gasindu-i in www.thefreedictionary.com sinonimul de "banded rattlesnake".

Sarpe veninos [...] de talie mare, 1.50-2 m, traieste in partea orientala a SUA.

Am gasit pentru \"canebrake rattlesnake\" denumirea in latina \"Crotalus horridus atricaudatus\", care din pacate nu apare in Atlasul zoologic. Vezi: http://ntri.tamuk.edu/herpetarium/viperidae/c.h.atricaudatus...

It's just a guess...
