English term

business

English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
I’m translating an announcement about a company’s reorganisation of its regional operations.
I’m not sure about the meaning of the word ‘’business’’ in the context below. Does it mean ‘’this company (as a whole)’’ or , perhaps, ‘’customers’’?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

‘’To attain this objective, we will take a step-by-step approach to optimising the regional operations structure in order to maintain an efficient interface between business and operations within a region.'’
(This objective = reorganisation of X’s regional operations).

@Grzegorz Thank you!
Grzegorz Mysiński (asker) Jul 18, 2011:
The word ''business'' does appear elsewhere in the text, but only in two phrases:,,business continuity'' and ''business challenges''.
Bernhard Sulzer Jul 18, 2011:
@Grzegorz Although Hassan's interpretation below is very likely right, I wonder if they refer here to the connection/improvement thereof between the business as in "headquarters/main company/business enterprise" and their operations within (in) a region. Are there other examples in which "business" is used in your text?

customers

I think it refers to the company's clients; the company would try to keep an efficient interface between its clients and operations on a regional basis.

sales

I'm not too sure, but I believe it makes reference to the business the company makes, i.e. the sales or services.

business/commercial interests

I think this could refer to either or both of the sales/services the company offers, i.e. its actaul business (and possibly in relation to other businesses in the area).

As Hasan says, as opposed to their actual operations
