Accounting or Accountancy?

At University or College, what is the term mostly used, Accounting or Accountancy? I'm talking about the Deparment or Faculty at university. Thanks in advance.

Accounting

Both are actually correct, however, accounting is more frequent, especially in the USA.

If it's a department, it would be Accounting.

As best I know, "accountancy" refers to responsibility, as in for one's actions.

\"accountancy\" is indeed related to accounting, but I would still expect a department to be the \"accounting dept\"

agree pcovs : Difficult, seems that 'accountancy' is more frequently used in collocations, e.g. 'accountancy fee/firm etc' but also for the study of 'accounting' and for the work done by an accountant. Tricky.
