Discussion

Tony M Sep 12, 2009:
Rewording might make it clearer I think it might make it easy to follow this rather tortuous sentence if one adds back in the part that is taken as read:<br><br> "...repair or use and/or alteration in any way that is not contemplated in the documentation for the Equipment or operational adjustments that are not covered in the manuals for the Equipment"<br><br>So the symmetrical verbs 'covered' and 'contemplated' balance the 2 halves of the sentence.<br><br>I think 'covered' here is just being used in its ordinary, everyday sense of 'described', etc. — I don't think there is any deeper meaning than that.<br><br>Like: "The newspaper article covered the main points of the story, but missed out some important background details"

NOTE: Sorry for the language pair mixup! (MY bad!)
here are some suggestions in English:

.,,considered, contemplated, regarded...

English term (edited): covered (here)

All points are described

Covered means a bit more than described.

Covered means all points about each of the subjects mentioned (Ie; faulty and improper installation, maintenance, service, repair or use and/or alteration and operational adjustments) Are fully described in detail, possibly including drawings, images, specifications, procedures for disassmbly and assembly, common faults and service and maintenance schematics.

BUT>>> I think the sentence is incorrect.
"- To faulty and improper installation, maintenance, service, repair or use and/or alteration in any way that is not contemplated in the documentation for the Equipment or operational adjustments covered in the manuals for the Equipment"
What it is saying is ...."to faulty and improper installation, maintenance, service, repair or use and/or alteration in any way " that is not" contemplated in the documentation for the Equipment "or" operational adjustments covered in the manuals for the Equipment"

Maybe should be>>> "to faulty and improper installation, maintenance, service, repair or use and/or alteration in any way that is not contemplated in the documentation for the Equipment "and" operational adjustments covered in the manuals for the Equipment"

It looks like a report on workplace safety or similar. " From this to that was not done?"

Or suggests that the choice is between the documentation for the Equipment or operational adjustments
and not ..
that is not contemplated in the documentation for the Equipment or manuals for the equipment.

Service and operational adjustments and improper installation, maintenance, service, repair or use and/or alteration should all be covered in the manuals and the documentation for the equipment. The or is incorrectly suggesting there is a choice between documentation and operational adjustments.... instructions and physically doing something, his is not possible..
