The label has a backer, which needs to be peeled off, to stick the laben on. They are very common nowadays, usually as a roll and you can get hand held or mailing machines as well, to apply them quicker, than by peeling the backer off by hand.
Or you can get sheets with lots of labels on it.

Hi Robert, this is an unbelievably ancient question. Thanks, your support may help to close it. + Me too, but I have given up worrying about it. Life is difficult for a perfectionist. :-(

Thanks. What time is it there? Two responses within an hour, one says 76 days, the other 77. Are you sitting opposite each other, either side of the midnight divide?
