English term
waiver
English
Medical
Medical (general)
This is from a medical study. I have only messages that are heard on telephone when the nurses communicate with the computerized system, no more context.
One question is "Do you confirm that a waiver should be granted for this patient?"
Then there are several questions like "If the waiver concerns the patient's age…" (continues, Press 1, and so on) and similarly "If the waiver concerns the patient's HAM-D total score/PSG2/the time limit between randomisation and reallocation/the randomisation of the patient…"
Does 'waiver' here means "exceptional acceptance of the patient for the study, although he by this feature does not fulfil the qualifications"?

Comment: "Thanks, garci! The matter may seem to be quite straightforward for a native speaker, but being non-native and having scarcely context, you want assurance."
