Make something good out of a bad experience.

This idiom means that you should try to make something/get something positive out of a negative experience. Another way to say it is: If something bad/unpleasant/undesirable happens to you try to find a way to make something good/pleasant/positive come from it.

Turn a bad experience into a good experience. Obtain a good result from bad circumstances. Turn bad circumstances into a good result. Use a negative experience to get a positive result. These are all other ways to express the same idea. HTH.
