English term

stripping

English Tech/Engineering Sports / Fitness / Recreation
Context: "the helmets are tested for shock absorbance, stripping, chin strap stability, and coverage zones."

What does 'stripping' mean in this context? Simply 'falling apart' or sth. more specified?

The text may be translated from German, if that gives some clue.

Apparently the original German word has been Abnehmbarkeit, that is 'removability'.
Gabriele Demuth Jul 1, 2015:

sorry ...didn't complete last sentence
it's also possible of course that they are tested to see if they fall off (on impact) which would imply how easily detachable they are but that would probably be expressed in terms of how securely fitted they are

yes, "ease of removal" is a synonym for "removability"
