"Chaque co-traitant ou sous-traitant est réputé avoir, avant la remise des offres :
Pris pleine connaissance du plan de masse et de tous les plans et documents utiles à la réalisation des travaux, ainsi que des sites, des lieux et des terrains d'implantation des ouvrages, et de tous les éléments généraux et locaux en relation avec l'exécution des travaux "
My attempt for "terrains d'implantation des ouvrages" is " works installation areas" but I'm not at all convinced that this is a good translation.
Any other suggestions?

I think it is essential to understand "des sites, des lieux et des terrains d'implantation des ouvrages" as a whole. I believe that there is a very good reason for using the three terms "sites" "lieux" and "terrains". The document spells out the contractors' responsibilities in terms of research and knowledge they are expected to provide themselves with and this is meant to protect the client. The contractors and subcontractors need to be fully aware of … the locations/sites, premises and land where the structures are to be sited. The meaning of land (terrains), here, can be taken to include soil conditions, pollution, buried objects etc.

Note that Termium Plus translates "terrains et bâtiments" as "lands and premises". I think that in your text the word "lieux" includes any built premises on the sites, whether or not they are to be demolished in the course of the works.

My understanding of the 3 terms is as floows:
- sites: in French like in English, hill, creek, mountain, etc: most general location
- lieux: locations chosen inside the site, most appropriate to the envisioned works (rather flat for a treatment plant for example, or close to a sewer...)
- terrains: specific plots of land, in France a "terrain" is most often understood as synonym of "parcelle cadastrale", specifically when it comes to buying or claiming the piece of land
It could be because the plant may cover multiple "terrains" belonging to mulitple owners, possiblty separated or to be negociated separately

: This is a construction contract, and the contractors and subcontractors will have (and want) absolutely nothing to do with legal title and the cadastre.

Discussion
As to "sites, lieux, terrains", this is clearly in a bid to cover all options: the terrains are probably just land or plots of land
