français term
m2_an
français vers anglais
Droit / Brevets
Énergie / génération d'électricité
From an energy performance diagnostic:
Consommation réelle: 313,99 kWhEP (primary energy)/m2_an (the two should be a superscript, i.e. meters squared, but the superscript won't display here)
Does this notation mean the same thing as m2/an? I've never seen it expressed this way before.

Selected
m²/year
All the refs I've found on the 'Net certainly talk about kWhEP/m²/an, and it seem logical enough.
Sometimes, people refer to such values as either x/y or x.y (. = ×) — of course technically there is a huge difference, but in actual fact, from the way some things are expressed, it doesn't actually make a difference in practical terms; it's all about what is being calculated and how, purists will throw up their hands in horror, but there are subtle pijnts at work here. So I'm just saying that maybe the writer of your text threw in a _ thinking of a ., when they really meant a /
BTW, the ² character is available within the Unicode character set; it appears on FR AZERTY keyboards, or else you can type it in using the Alt + NumPad code [Alt + 0178] — or if all else fails, insert it as a special character into a Word doc and then copy/paste it ;-)

It is, of course, 'energy consumption per m² per year', so there is really no place for '×' there...

Funnily enough, only today I cam across a different example of something like this, where it should have been X per Y per Z, and again, it was oddly expressed as X/Y.Z instead of X/Y/Z
