French term

percé dans la masse

French to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing machine tool for automotive parts
This is a press release type document for a company that makes machine tools for the automotive industry, and specifically drills.

"Un des points clés d’un outillage de presse à chaud est son système de refroidissement. Celui-ci est entièrement percé dans la masse.

Does it mean "in the solid part"? There are plenty of "dans la masse" in the glossaries, but they don't seem to fit. Thanks for any help.

@chris That was just a suggestion, more information needed about it to give any definitive answer: preferably drawings.
chris collister Feb 1, 2017:
Not sure about "honeycombed"...? Perforated? Criss-crossed?
Dorothy White (asker) Feb 1, 2017:
Thanks, this seems right
B D Finch Jan 31, 2017:
What it seems to mean It seems to mean that the hot press has internal coolant channels running throughout its bulk. Possibly, a translation of "la masse" might be redundant in English and something like "completely honeycombed with coolant channels" would best describe it.
