Re: "improvements" - I tend to the view that if an "official" (e.g. on what appears to be an offical Fr health website) translation exists, we should stick with it as much as poss. Jason could always use a footnote and say "translation taken from (+URL above)" to justify use of it. I did this no less than 3 times last month with "competitiveness cluster" for "pole de competitivite". Even if these translations are not perfect, I don't think it helps anyone if each individual translator invents their own version. Unless, that is, you happen to be the translator in a position to get the "official" translation changed....

I daresay you're right about this sounding better - see above for my personal opinion - am always interested in other points of view though.

: medical procedures - I don't think it's necessary to add surgical. The sesam-vitale website is not the official site of the Fr govt. but of the company running the system. Look at other EN trans. on the site - not very idiomatic English.

A fair point (altho' note I delib. didn't say "govt" as I noticed it didn't have the usual govt logo) - and yes, some of the English does jar a little :-)
