Should "cadences" be the same in English?

Cadences are series of chords that are used as musical punctuation marks to indicate the end of a passage. Like blues progressions, they are usually based on the \"strongest\" chords in the major key (I - IV - V - I) in order to emphasize the feeling of resolution that comes with a return to the home key.

agree awilliams : Hi William! Another music one. Cadences - interrupted cadences, plagal, etc., although I think in jazz we're probably talking your V-I perfect, as you say. All the best, Amy
