French term

Caisse d'allocation vieillesse des agents généraux d'assurance ....

French to English Bus/Financial Names (personal, company)
Caisse d'allocation vieillesse des agents généreaux d'assurance et des mandataires non salariés de l'assurance et de capitalisation (CAVAMAC)

In the heading of a letter. It's an organization dealing with retirement plans. Having trouble finding an English equivalent.

Thanks, Tony Thanks for your comment and explanation, Tony. That helps a lot.
Tony M Oct 23, 2014:
@ Asker As I understand it, an 'agent général' is a non-affiliated insurance broker who may offer insurance from several different insurance companies, whereas a 'mandataire' seems to be a commission-only representative of one particular company only.
Scott de Lesseps (asker) Oct 23, 2014:
Thanks, Jane. Thanks, Jane -- great timing! I'm not sure what the difference between "agents généreaux d'assurance" and "mandataires de l'assurance" is, but your suggestion sounds like it fits quite well.
writeaway Oct 23, 2014:
CAVAMAC seems to stay in French and you have to provide something in ( ) in English to explain. its the name of a company basically.

CAVAMAC (French state pension fund for insurance professionals)

The French pension system is a nightmare, each profession has its own fund to which they pay mandatory contributions and in some cases additional complementary (but not optional) contributions. For all of these sorts of organisations I leave the French acronym and explain in English. There is no English equivalent.

French state pension fund for insurance professionals or members of the insurance profession as defined by the French Code de l'Assurance.

agree chris collister : Nightmare inded - I need to retire at 80 and live to 160 to recoup my contribution

neutral philgoddard : I'm all for simplification, but this is not nearly specific enough. You can't turn "agents généraux d'assurance et mandataires non salariés de l'assurance et de capitalisation" into "insurance professionals".
