Again from a report on modelling a reactor core:
L'analyse de ces cartes de flux révèle que les différents crayons combustible du cœur sont baignés dans des environnements thermo-hydrauliques relativement hétérogènes. Leur environnement thermo-hydraulique dépend notamment de leur position géographique dans le cœur et par conséquent de leur épuisement.
Pour représenter cette hétérogénéité, plusieurs **assemblages chauds de résidence** sont discriminés à partir des différentes configurations du cœur analysées, et ce, notamment en fonction de leur épuisement.
I haven't come across this term before. I think I can see what they're getting at, but I'm not sure how to express this in English. "Resident hot assemblies" doesn't seem to get any ghits!
Further on it goes on to describe it as:
– l'assemblage chaud de résidence (celui représentant au mieux le triplet (FQxFHxBU) de l'assemblage dans lequel le crayon combustible est réellement plongé),
which suggests that it might just be a typical hot assembly for a specific part of the core.
Any suggestions much appreciated as ever!

I would say the 'de residence' in the first example appears to be referring to the positioning of the rods within the reactor core , while in the second it seems to imply, the usual or main or principal configuration position/pattern/ placement.-
I suppose like a 'principal' residence.

Since the term crops up throughout your doc, presumably it is not a typo.
I therefore tend to agree with your "typical", i.e. referring to a geographical location in the core where the assembly will systematically be hotter than others. There may on occasion be other locations where, under special circumstances or because of some specific characteristic of an assembly, an assembly may be hot, but not systematically. By the same token, the location of an "assemblage chaud de résidence" might not ALWAYS be hot (specific characteristics of the assembly concerned?), but it will tend to be, more often than not.
Maybe this interpretation is reinforced by other occurences?
Locational hot assembly?
Hot assembly by definition (but not necessarily in fact) ?
Pinpoint hot assembly?
