French term

contre les tirages

French to English Marketing Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts) fashion and other portfolios
Hi all,

This is a portfolio administration website and the sentence is:

Vous pouvez indiquer vos disponibilités (Portrait, Mode, Glamour, Lingerie, Nu artistique) et si vous acceptez de poser contre les tirages.

I'm familiar with the basic translations of 'tirage' but am not sure what this little phrase means.

Discussion

Sandra Petch Mar 22, 2006:
I see it as "translator's block". Last week I emailed a client asking them to explain a sentence then when I woke up the next day it seemed totally obvious (and I felt a complete fool!).
Clare Macnamara (asker) Mar 22, 2006:
Hi Sandra! Yes, of course. As soon as I saw Miranda's answer I realised what it was about and wondered why I hadn't come up with that myself! But credit where credit is due, i.e. to Miranda & Co.
Sandra Petch Mar 22, 2006:
Hi Clare, it's another way of saying "en contrepartie"
