French term

aux petites hanches

French to English Marketing Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
My context is fashion descriptions, it is similar to this:

Couture circa 1990 Robe, bustier en velours vert jusqu'aux petites hanches, ras du cou, manches longues, jupe travaillée.... http://www.thierrydemaigret.com/html/fiche.jsp?id=3301496&np...

or this:

http://www.thierrydemaigret.com/html/fiche.jsp?id=3301496&np...
Robe longue en tulle mou. Le bustier de tulle et décolleté en V vient affiner la taille pour finir aux petites hanches. Une ceinture en....

It's a dress, and I have a photo - it is basically a "drop waist" dress, but the problem I'm having is that I need to describe some features of the dress that are located "at the petites hanches". What do we call this body part in English? Hips? Upper hips? Lower waist? Love handles? (just kidding). I don't think I have come across "petites hanches" before, so I would like to better understand the distinction in French (taille, petites hanches, hanches ?)

at the upper hip

Here are some diagrams in FR that show the region of the body we are talking about:

I think we would refer to this area as "the upper hip" when we're being specific (otherwise we would call it simply "the hip"):

"Slight drop waist hits at the upper hip and then a full pleated skirt..."

"1950s Dress & Drape Pattern - Fitted Bodice and Upper Hip, Full Skirt, Sash-like…"

Here is a diagram in EN that uses the term "upper hip" for the region of the body that corresponds to "petites hanches":

I've also seen a couple of references to "high hip" and "top of the hip."
Note from asker:
thanks - with your suggestion, I found this http://www.clothingpatterns101.com/body-measurements.html for high hip, as opposed to full hip... think I'm on the right track!
