Well, this is a sort of antenna which would fit the German. The reference below describes how such an antenna is used in a held-held device to measure radio-frequency radiation at close range - in this case from mobile phones. I would imagine that such an antenna might also be used in a card-reading device, as mentioned in your context.
BTW, I'd stick to "antenna" even for BE. I know "aerial" is more commonly used for TVs in the UK, but I think "antenna" is used universally for devices such as these.
