German term

Heizungsverteiler

German to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation
Part of a description of improvements to a large heating system (for a school), the Heizungsverteiler is replaced as part of these improvements.
It's a system for distributing the hot water that comes out of the boiler, but "heating distributor" gets very few relavant hits on google (plenty of irrelevant ones).
Anyone know what we call this?
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

David Moore (X) May 18, 2004:
In that case, I rather think a "heating distribution system" is the way to go. I'd be tempted to ask the customer; as you suggest, we possibly don't have an exact equivalent.
Non-ProZ.com May 18, 2004:
They talk separately (at great length) about the pumps, so I don't think that's what they're referring to here. There is a picture of the Heizungsverteiler, and it appears to be just that - a system for distributing the hot water to the various separate heating system sections.

or possibly header, although this usually refers to the old-fashioned header tank.

May I add that I worked as a central-heating fitter for six years in Germany (when I was a lad)? No? OK, sorry.

Possibly too: "heater pump"?

Heating circulation pump? \"Heater\" appears to refer more oftem to hot water, and \"heating\" to central heating.

I think it is less of a \"system\", which I think relates rather to the pipework itself, more just a \"pump\".
