German term

Egalisations- oder Ausgleichsfarbe bzw. -anstrich

German to English Tech/Engineering Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
Bezeichnet Farben, die auch auf unterschiedlich stark saugenden Untergründen eine einheitliche Farbgebung gewährleisten. Bei Textilien wird das wohl als levelling bezeichnet, aber das scheint mir bei Anstrichen nicht korrekt zu sein. Hat jemand eine Idee? Ich habe es mit egalizing probiert, aber die Google-Ergebnisse sehen alle zweifelhaft aus. Vielen Dank

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jul 4, 2005:
I am not sure about equalising, as I said Google only returns a few pages. And yes, Kim, it is the same stuff. The term I have to translate is Egalisationsanstrich, but I discovered that it is also referred to as Ausgleichsanstrich oder -farbe. I put all the options in, in case somebody has heard about any of them before.

equalising paint

Not sure if this is the same stuff. I think "Ausgleichsfarbe" is just a synonym for Egalisationsfarbe.

Hi AnnaMay, by \"the same stuff\" I meant I\'m not sure if equalising paint is the same material as Egalisationsfarbe. In any case, it seems to be some sort of \"primer.\"

This is from an English translation of a German site, and the translation is very good.

Keim Concretal Grob
