It's from St. Jerome's Preface to his translation of the Acts of the Apostles. The context is, "Cervices premit imposita sepis oneris magnitudo."
There are a large number of orthographical errors in the text before me and I am not certain that 'sepis' in particular is correct. A search for some such form as 'sepa', 'saepa', vel sim. through the lexica yields nothing. I rule it out as a 2nd sing. verb form because the greater context employs 2nd plural indicative forms, so I suppose it to be a noun, dative or ablative, to be taken with 'imposita'. But could someone enlighten me as to what it might mean, or if it is even a real form rather than just another orthographical error?
