This is my take:

Children in high school today have access to the Internet. Do you think that this is an advantage for them, or on the contrary, do they lose/abandon/put aside/lose out on/no longer rely on the use of books when doing a project, for example?

I included options to translate lose in this context. A literal translation would not read the best.
