Bio
Professional translator of English, Norwegian, and Russian with 11 years of experience

My translator's career started with a university degree in law and legal translation from Moscow Linguistic University, Russia. But over years and projects, I found myself involved as a translator in new professional fields related to natural resources: mining, mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, hydroelectricity, and natural resource management.

My strategy for working in the new subject areas takes the most valuable skill from my legal background—careful choice of words and clear communication—and combines it with extensive self–study as a tool of professional growth and a prerequisite of quality. My philosophy is being open to every opportunity to explore new areas of practice building on the accumulated competences and skills.

Professional Experience
Senior Translator, Natural Resources and Law
La Vista Translations, Russia, 2010—Present
English to Russian and Russian to English translation projects focused on the legal industry, mining, mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, and hydroelectricity.
Projects that I worked on include:
– Kambarata–1 Hydroelectric Dam, Kyrgyzstan—Feasibility Study (2014)
– Evenki Hydroelectric Dam, Russia—Investment Feasibility Study (2010)
– TACIS and EuropeAid projects by the EU Delegation to Russia (2004—2012)

– Localization of Glencore Technology’s Russian website (2014—present)

Translator of English
La Vista Translations, Russia, 2005—2010
I used my early years as a translator to single out the subject areas I wanted to specialize and gain deeper knowledge in. In line with this strategy, I provided language services to leading Russian and European law firms, Russian courts of arbitration, a major Canadian engineering and construction group, Russian operators of hydroelectric dams, a few of Russian oil and gas companies, a global cement supplier, one of Moscow airports, and a global pharmaceuticals group.

Web Content Manager
Alliance Media National Business Partnership, Moscow, Russia, 2003—2005
As Content Manager for a web–project started to provide information support to small and medium businesses entering foreign markets, I developed the content structure for the project and further undertook the responsibility for selection, translation, and publication of reference information and news content. Content that I translated included economic and political publications in the international mass media, overviews of foreign economies, reports on foreign civil, commercial, corporate, and tax legislation. Experience I gained in this position became the basis for the choice of a professional translator's career.
