Several Times I received apologies from one or another question-asker, saying that they had clicked on the wrong key while choosing the most helpful answer. I guess it is rather difficult to click on the right key. I am quoting one e-mail as follows:
An asker has added a note to a question you answered
or are tracking.

mostly unlikely answer?
Believe me, such things happen quite a lot. When I was prompted to click and choose an answer to my question, I was reluctant. It is not easy to click on the right key. And once clicked, alas, it is not reversible. ▲ Collapse

Unfortunately, it happens. But in this case you should contact a moderator, and the problem may be solved. In case both asker and the author of the chosen answer have nothing against, the question may be un-graded by the moderator, and the correct answer chosen.

I still think the interface may cause a lot of occasional and unintentional mistakes (like the one which you had described).
