English term

do not vent

Homework / test English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals
Hi there!

I'm having a hard time figuring out the meaning of "do not vent" in this particular case, and a native-speaker explanation will sure come in handy!! This is a text about an irrigation solution bag for medical use. Please see below (***).

Irrigation solution
Uses
This solution is nonhaemolytic and without electrolytes and is used for irrigation of the cutting surface of the prostate to enable the surgeon to have good visibility of the operating field during transurethral resection of prostate surgery.
1. Not for intravenous administration.
2. Do not use unless solution is clear and container is undamaged.
3. Discard unused contents of opened containers.
4. ***Do not vent***
5. Microwave heating of fluids is not recommended.
6. The solution is not to be taken orally.

Muchas gracias!!

Ignacio

Do not expose, do not open

Contaimer must keep sealed in order to preserve sterilization. If opened the content will be contaminated, therefore useless and harmful for human/animal consumption
