Many names of the sea fish come directly from Greek but unfortunately there is no source in Turkish about the meanings of the original words.
Some examples are

istavrit / stavridi (savridi)/ horse mackerel
izmarit / smaridi (marida) / piceral-pickarel
I'd realy apreciate if someone could forward me to an useful source. I can find the Greek names of these fish, that's not a problem. The problem is that I also want to find the meaning of these Greek words.
Many thank in advance
