How to align your legacy translations in order to obtain a new fully operational Translation Memory for future use
Course summary
Description After attending this course you will be able to create your own TMs starting from documents you have already translated in the past without using any CAT TOOL. This process is called "Alignment" because it attempts to align (link) each single sentence in the Source Document "A" with its corresponding translated sentences in Target Document "B". At the end of this procedure you will get a fully operational TM which can be used for your future translations. During the course up to 4 methods will be shown in order to enable you to achieve this goal. Training plan: - Alignment procedure with SDL Trados Studio 2017 - Alignment procedure with Wordfast Aligner - LF Aligner - Youalign - Web based procedure (TMX format) - How to import and export TMs - How to merge more TMs into a single one Target audience This course is aimed both at beginners and advanced professional translators who would like to profit from and take advantage of their previously tranlsted documents. It is possible to align not only documents that have been personally translated in the past but also bilingual documents you have just come across through a specific internet search. Learning objectives - How to manage an Alignment process - How to create a brand new operational TM based on an alignment procedure - How to deal with newly created TMs (splitting, merging, revolving the original language pair combination, e.g. ENG>ITA to ITA>ENG, and so on.)
