this may help you clarify http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_spanish/law_general/230...
Also there are many entries of "winding up" already in the glossary, you should take a look at those, they could be very helpful
Jacqueline Rosa-Kuhn (asker) Sep 30, 2011:
I'm a little confused now, because liquidation is already used just prior to this...should I use the same term again, or should I leave it out? See below:
or commencement of any formal or informal proceeding for dissolution,** liquidation**, settlement of claims against or **winding up** of the affairs of a party...
Thank you for your help!
lorenab23 Sep 30, 2011:
I think you can use liquidación
Here is a nice explanation of winding up:
In law, liquidation is the process by which a company (or part of a company) is brought to an end, and the assets and property of the company redistributed. Liquidation is also sometimes referred to as winding-up or dissolution, although dissolution technically refers to the last stage of liquidation.

winding up is equivalent to "closing shop" - ceasing to do/going out of business

Clausurar definitivamente

Winding up, in the context of English Company laws, means, literally, to close down the business/cease activity. This closure, however, can be on three different grounds: Voluntary Liquidation, Creditors´Liquidation (petitioned by these, that is), Liquidation by the Court(s).
