Trust management team

The Trust Board has overall responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the Trust and for monitoring all aspects of performance. The Trust Board exercises the powers of the Trust within its licence issued by its regulator, NHS Improvement, and its Constitution.

The chief executive is the accountable officer and the executive directors are responsible for the day to day management of their respective corporate departments.

Clinical services are led by divisional directors who are responsible to the Chief Executive via the Chief Operating Officer. Other senior posts accountable to the divisional directors within each clinical directorate are divisional medical directors, divisional nursing directors and operational managers.

Dirección often translates as directorate, meaning a unit of the organisation headed by a director. For example, the EU Commission is made up of directorates-general.

Chiefs of Service Directorate
Most of these posts are cross-site with a few exceptions (for example the posts of Associate Director for Site Management and Medicine and Emergency Department). Clinical leadership is provided by the new posts of Chief of Service, which is similar to the former clinical director role but on a larger scale. Each of the 10 Chiefs of Service heads up a clinical division and reports to the Chief Executive.
