The client needs the terminology translated in a most precise manner.

The document contains the term "aleatorietat" and "atzar", as distinct and separate terms. How might one differ from the other?
Bear this in mind when answering. Thank you.

Discussion

meirs Nov 2, 2010:
points of view From the casino point of view it's randomness - doesn't care which player wins and which not. If it's not random, it's biased and the gaming commission has something to say about it. From the player's point of view it's luck, chance or fortune that he wins or loses. From the law's point of view, chance (not wits or skill) is involved, so it's immoral and should be taxed/regulated, etc.
meirs Nov 2, 2010:
more context can differentiate cf. FR "jeux de hazard"

chance

I would usually translate atzar as chance and aleatorietat as randomness. They are both similar but here's how I would define the difference:

ATZAR - sense ordre o plantejament (without order or specific approach)

ALEATORI - Que depèn de la sort o de l'atzar (it depends on luck or chance)

randomness & luck

Generally I'd say randomness = aleatorietat and luck or chance = atzar, but the exact context is needed. ;.)
