You might be unfamiliar with the frequencies on a graphic equaliser. Here is a short guide to their relevance when setting up the EQ for an audio file.
Increase the 60Hz frequency to boost low-frequency instruments such as the bass or bass drum. Reduce the frequency to decrease the boom of the bass.
Increase the 100Hz frequency to add a harder bass sound to lowest-frequency instruments or to make guitars and the snare drum sound fuller. Also, increase this frequency to add warmth to piano and horns. Reduce the frequency to increase the clarity of guitars and remove any 'boom' sound.
Increase the 260Hz frequency to boost vocals and instruments such as the guitar or snare drum. Reduce the frequency to make vocals or mid-range instruments clear if they sound muffled.
Increase the 500Hz frequency to add clarity to bass lines, especially when speakers are at low volume. Reduce the frequency to decrease any flat sound of lower drums such as the bass drum and to decrease ambience on cymbals.
