English term

suit to a tee

English to Italian Art/Literary Linguistics Golf
The magnificent courses of the Caribbean are sure to suit you to a tee.

Grazie

Swisstell: The problem is...what you suggested is NOT at all Italian :)
swisstell Aug 8, 2004:
I could also give you a German example: "sitzt wie angegossen" but like in the Spanish example, the connection with golf is lost - and I feel that is should not be.
swisstell Aug 8, 2004:
I realize that you gave a Spanish example. Unfortunately I do not know of anything fitting in Italian - outside of what I have suggested. Good luck.

For SwissTell Thanks a lot, and I knew what a "tee" is, but I was looking for an Italian rendition, and I gave a Spanish example I found on the net :)
Non-ProZ.com Aug 8, 2004:
MI correggo: Il significato esatto dovrebbe essere "calzare a pennello, a puntino"

anda bene (ensieme) como un tee / anda perfettamente como un tee

the English original of course is a play of words, having to do with golf. A tee is that little T-shaped peg on which one puts the golf ball for the first hit on each hole. The peg is slightly hollow so that the ball does not fall off. In other words, ball and tee fit together perfectly. - I am afraid if you go for something else like you suggest (venir como pintado), you lose the connectin with golf.
