Discussion

Alfa Trans (X) Feb 25, 2008:
An expert says that rakokynnys is slit threshold, so I'm adding this FYI.
hwhitford (asker) Feb 19, 2008:
Materials wood Sorry the website jammed when posting the question and that is why it probably shows wrong heading.
Anyway - this translation is for a Finnish company and the products are mainly targeted to Finland.
Alfa Trans (X) Feb 19, 2008:
The pictures, explanations and your materials (plastics, ceramics, etc) confused me completely. At least in Finland we don't have airconditioning in every house. Which country is it for?
Alfa Trans (X) Feb 19, 2008:
Based on this, it's hard to tell the difference between the two. There is no gap seen under the door in rakokynnys.

standard threshold

this would mean the threshhold is raised but not rebated because of a swing door, for instance. Rako refers to the gap seen under the door.

The gap is not visible in Marju's example - but it is there all the same.
Based on the example given, a better translation for rakokynnys would be ventilated threshold.
