I retired from the U.S. military in 1999 and have lived in Japan for 35 years. I studied Japanese in at University of Arizona and at university programs offered on bases in Japan.

After retiring from the military, I worked in telecommunications as manager of Tokyo network operations and as acting director of operations in Japan for WorldCom Japan. I worked at an Osaka company from 2011 to 2015 translating cosmetics testing reports and providing business liaison with English speaking clients. Other freelance translations I have produced include white papers for university scientific studies and alternative energy programs featuring solar cell and solar energy storage devices. Most recently I provided translations for patent related documentation for the Japan Patent Office located in Tokyo.
