Produce professional translations in my genuine native language - Portuguese and in the other two languages – French and English, which I am very fluent at.
Although I usually check the meaning of the words after they come to my mind, I really do not depend on dictionaries , as I can rely on my knowledge and daily contact with all these three languages to write texts that are accurate translations of the source texts in all aspects . I have always been a word lover, always trying to find out the real meaning of words and or its etymology. However when I feel that a text goes beyond my knowledge, I prefer to turn it down rather than produce a result that doesn’t satisfy me entirely.
My fluency in English and French comes from the fact that all my professional life I have worked in multinational companies where the use of those languages was a “must” along with the Portuguese. Besides, I usually spend part of the year in England, with my daughter whose husband is English.
As a word lover, great part of my free time is spent reading, which is an activity that develops the skills of writing and using words. Also, I keep myself informed, watching English and French television. I feel that this is very important because words used daily are always changing.
