I have just relocated to the Washington D.C. area, where I am looking for employment either in the translation industry or in the fields of technical writing, editing or technology. I have a green card allowing unrestricted permission to work in the USA.

Since completing an MA in Applied Translation Studies at the University of Leeds, I have gained three and a half years in an in-house job as a German to English Technical Translator.

During this time I translated an average of 2,000 words a day of a wide range of different document types for fields as diverse as automotive, printing, pump technology, renewable energies and machine tools.

In addition to this professional experience, at Leeds I studied and demonstrated understanding of the respective challenges posed by different text types, including journalistic, administrative, technical, scientific and literary.

Furthermore, I am knowledgeable on language and linguistics, aviation and military, German 20th century history, literature and film, the steelmaking industry (through my work at Corus), and particularly on computers, gadgetry and the internet.

A key focus of my Masters degree was the teaching of different CAT tools, which means I already have experience with a wide range of software (STAR Transit, Trados, SDLX, DVX, Passolo, Wordfast).

As an undergraduate, I undertook a four year BA in French and German Studies at the University of Warwick, including a year split between the Université de Caen basse-normandie and the Universitaet Konstanz.
